News Spotlight: More Mel and Jews News

The fact anyone gets mad at this guy anymore is amusing to me. Mel is cray cray. And honestly, at this point, I think he is doing these things just for shits and giggles.

From MSNBC: "Mel Gibson and Joe Ezsterhas will collaborate for an untitled drama about Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee, it was first reported late Thursday. Deadline Hollywood broke the news, saying that Gibson "had long wanted to make this film about heroic Jews, and it was discussed even when he was under fire after his drunken anti-Semitic rant during a 2006 Malibu arrest."

A decided departure from other Gibson films like "Lethal Weapon" or "The Passion of the Christ," Gibson will be a producer and direct the film (Eszterhas will write the script), which is being made by Warner Bros.

A certain level of outrage was anticipated when the news broke -- after all, Gibson has hardly been known as a bastion of tolerance and understanding in recent years. Now, Jewish leaders are speaking out about what they feel is hypocrisy in having Gibson involved. Rabbi Marvin Heir, founder and dean of Los Angeles's Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance, told The Hollywood Reporter, "He’s had a long history of antagonism with Jews. Casting him as a director or perhaps as the star of Judah Maccabee is like casting (Bernie) Madoff to be the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, or a white supremacist as trying to portray Martin Luther King Jr. It's simply an insult to Jews."

Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti Defamation League, also issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter saying, “Judah Maccabee deserves better. He is a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty. It would be a travesty to have his story told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views."

Maccabee, along with his father and brothers, led the Jewish revolt against the Greek-Syrian armies of the Seleucid Empire during the second century BC. Hanukkah is a celebration of the success of the revolt."

News Spotlight: New Sex Tape Rumor

Another day, another celebrity sex tape. Or not. If this tape between Rihanna and J Cole really exists, for its own credibility Hustler should stop with the "we don't know what we're gonna do with it" crap and do what a magazine does--expose it. If it never comes to light, it's very likely they are full of shit.

From MTV News: "Rihanna has become the latest in a long line of celebrities to fall victim to sex tape rumors. But after adult entertainment company Hustler told Radar Online that it had obtained video of the "Man Down" singer and rapper J. Cole, both artists tweeted denials of the tape's existence.

"We don't believe U, U need more people...AND of course an actual sextape! #slownewsday," Rihanna posted on Wednesday night.

Cole, who opened for Rihanna's Loud tour, also used his Twitter to react to the report, writing early Thursday morning (August 25), "Gossip Gossip, n---a just stop it."

The denials came after a rep for Hustler delivered a statement to Radar, saying, "Hustler [is] in possession of the Rihanna and J. Cole tape. We have seen it and we do not know what we are going to do with it yet.""

News Spotlight: Brand Un-Endorsement

This is the funniest celebrity news I've heard in a long time. How awful do you have to be for a clothing brand to pay your NOT to wear their clothes? Pure comedy.

From Forbes: "Not all celebrity endorsements are good, at least Abercrombie & Fitch doesn’t think so; the apparel retailer is asking Jersey Shore cast member Mike “the Situation“ Sorrentino to stop wearing its clothes.

That’s right, the apparel chain known for it racy adds and half naked models thinks an MTV reality star known for being nearly naked is damaging it’s reputation. The retailer is actually offering to pay Sorrentino to take off their clothes and issued this statement:

““We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”"

News Spotlight: Wizards and Whiskey

The world's favorite wizard has revealed that all that enemy slaying and mind trickery took a toll. In his GQ interview, Daniel Ratchliffe says that he drank quite a bit on set of the last Harry Potter movie and became "reliant" on alcohol. The whole childhood star turning into an alcoholic or drug user is a recurring theme in Hollywood so it would seem these stories wouldn't have much shock value. But it's fucking Harry Potter! What is the (wizarding? Muggle?) world coming to?

News Spotlight: Decades Long Hotness

Jennifer Aniston is 42 and looks pretty damn good, but is she really the "hottie of the decade"? I think of her more as cutesy than a flat-out hottie, but to each her own. I will say, however, that pictures like the one above serve as validation for these kinda claims.

From The Celebrity Cafe: "It’s official: Spike TV wants everyone to know that Jennifer Aniston is hot – and has been for at least a decade.

At the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards, her Horrible Bosses co-star, Jason Sudeikis, presented her with the Decade of Hotness Award on behalf of the viewers of the cable network.

After being presented with the award, Aniston joked about her Friends-era fashion, saying, “A decade? That would put it at [2001], which is good because I had some sketchy looks in the '90s."

The 42-year-old actress said that she had a yoga regimen to thank for her continued good looks and physique."

News Spotlight: Celebrity Baby Name Fuckery

Celebrities are known for cray cray baby names. The newest addition is Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Jarecki's new baby boy. Name: Bear Blu. Status: WTF. I'm all about creativity and uniqueness when it comes to labeling (I actually think the name is kinda adorable), but only when it involves oneself. These babies have no say in the matter and while the parents are off the hook after the name is given, the kid has to spend the rest of his/her life explaining what Mom and Dad were thinking--or drinking. Poor little cub.

News Spotlight: Another Comedian, Another Disaster Rant

Anytime something really devastating happens in the news, there always seems to be an entertainment career casualty that comes along with it these days. Comedians are the usual culprits because they are so used to saying whatever they want and know they are not only allowed to, but are expected to. That is, until the masses think they have gone too far and the act goes from bold and daring to career suicide. The Japanese earthquake's companion is Gilbert Gottfried. In all fairness, that duck needed to shut the fuck up anyway.

From The Hollywood Reporter: "A day after he was fired as the voice of Aflac Inc.’s iconic duck, controversial comic Gilbert Gottfried has apologized for making a series of mean-spirited Twitter jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement Tuesday. “I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families."

Gottfried has voiced the duck in the insurer's TV ad campaign in the U.S. since 2000, but the company said Monday that the dozen jokes he Tweeted “were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac.” A nationwide casting call to find a new voice is now underway. (He is among the stars who have sent out other low-blow messages via Twitter.)

Aflac Inc., which made its name selling cancer expense policies in Japan in the 1970s, still derives about three-quarters of its revenue in the country.

Gottfried is no stranger to controversy.

Three weeks after 9/11, he made light of the tragedy at a Friars Club roast for Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. He said that he had tried to catch a plane but couldn't get a direct flight because "they said they have to stop off at the Empire State Building." The joke prompted boos from the audience."

News Spotlight: Roast Gone Wrong

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino bombed at Donald Trump's roast. Who actually thought he would be funny? Why would you trust him to deliver jokes correctly? My guess is you wouldn't and it was a big setup. So it turns out that Sorrentino is the one getting roasted now. Talk about morning after regrets.

From Fox News: "Comedy Central writers who worked on Donald Trump's roast were so worried that Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino would mess up his jokes that they spelled House Speaker John Boehner's name phonetically on his autocue as "BAYNER" -- so the "Jersey Shore" star wouldn't say, "Boner."

But Sorrentino was so bad that he became the first roaster in more than a decade to be drowned in a tidal wave of heckles and boos.

"By the way, who's John Boehner?" Sorrentino pronounced it correctly -- but went on, "Check it out. Doesn't his name sound like boner? Anyone notice that . . . boner?"

"Hey, Snoop Dogg," Sorrentino sneered at the pot-smoking rapper, who openly puffed on a large blunt while onstage. "Donald Trump and your ancestors had a lot in common -- they owned real estate, and your ancestors were property!" More heckles.

As the boos filled the Hammerstein Ballroom Wednesday night, Sorrentino whined, "This is my first time doing comedy!"

"And your last!" shouted comic Jeff Ross.

Sorrentino smelled strangely like a hot dog up close, reports The Post's Don Kaplan -- and ignored Kaplan when he asked The Sitch if he knew how to spell "bomb."

Sorrentino inexplicably shared the dais with seasoned comics like Lisa Lampanelli, Whitney Cummings, rookie roaster Anthony Jeselnik, Marlee Matlin, and Larry King -- who is so old that "the last time he covered an uprising in Egypt, Larry interviewed Moses," joked Jeselnik.

The roastmaster, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, spent a good part of the event, which will air as a Comedy Central special on Tuesday, blasting The Donald's presidential aspirations. "Trump opposes abortion," said MacFarlane, "which makes sense, because that's his next wife he may be killing." Trump did not laugh.

Snoop sniped, "You're thinking of running for president? Wouldn't be the first time you pushed a black family out of their house."

Trump took the blows in stride.

"What's the difference between a wet raccoon and Donald J. Trump's hair?" the mogul joked. "A wet raccoon doesn't have $7 billion [bleeping] dollars in the bank!""

News Spotlight: More Charlie Sheen Fuckery

Because we never seem to get tired of celebrities and their binges, more tidbits of information on Charlie Sheen's infamous hotel raid keep being leaked. This week, photos and video footage.

From Fox News: "Footage from the 36-hour drug and booze-fueled bender that landed Charlie Sheen in the hospital has been released.

A video released on TMZ shows an apparently inebriated Sheen doing a crazy dance with several women inside of a house.

But the most disturbing footage may be a photo of Sheen's face, which is sunken and sports a set of broken, gap-filled, gold-filled teeth.

A representative for Charlie Sheen confirmed to FOX411 that the troubled actor voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center last Friday.

“He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern,” Sheen’s rep, Stan Rosenfeld, told FOX411 in a statement. “Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional informational will be provided.”"

News Spotlight: Kim's Naked Rage

If you happened to miss "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" last night, congratulations. You're not a tv whore like the rest of us. If you did, then you witnessed Kim having a shitfit over her W photo shoot in which she posed butt ass naked and believed the magazine folks when they said she would not be exposed in the final product. She also apparently had an epiphany: if she doesn't take all her clothes off in front of a camera, no one can use the footage. You'd think she would have picked that one up a long time ago, but better late than never I guess.

From Business Insider: "Sex tape notwithstanding, Kim Kardashian is serious about nudity.

Kardashian's appearance in W magazine, both on the cover and in a photoshoot by Mark Seliger, caused a big buzz, leading to that issue tying for the second highest seller of 2010 for the artistic fashion magazine.

But the latest episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York on E! showed what really happened during Kim's silver-body-paint only fashion shoot:

"I was naked but fully covered in silver paint," Kim told Kourtney during the episode. "This artist will put images of architecture and buildings and stuff on top of me so you will see my body shape and the outline but not actually my boobs or anything."

Then the photos arrived....

Kim broke down in tears over how much of her was in display. "I'm more naked here than I was in my Playboy," she cried.

"I'm so f*cking mad right now...She promised I would be covered with artwork....This is serious porn....You can see nipple."

"The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen. I feel so taken advantage of. I've definitely learned my lesson. I'm never taking my clothes off again, even if it's for Vogue."

Later Kim came around. She apparently told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show that she now "loved" the images."

News Spotlight: Ricky Gervais' Globes Host Roast

The phrase "You'll never work in this town again" could not be more fitting for Ricky Gervais' Hollywood future after his host roast last night at the Golden Globes. Luckily for him, he's British. Gervais took it further than anyone has ever taken it. Remebber a few years ago when Chris Rock hosted the show and got everyone riled up? Well, that was a compliment rant compared to the stabs Gervais took last night. He stabbed everyone--and we're talking about everyone. The obvious choices like Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson to the more suprising like Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, and Scientologists. He even attacked the Foreign Press Association itself and God. He disappeared most of the second half speculating that his act got cut or that he even got fired, but he did show back up. As for the aftermath, Gervais is proud of his performance and has made it clear that even though he is aware he won't be asked to come back, he stands behind every joke. If you missed the telecast, I strongly advise you take a look at some of the digs.

And so lots of articles have been written stating that Gervais was too harsh. To that I say, give me a fucking break. Yes, Gervais was pretty dirty. He got in some low blows. But not only did he warn he was going to take it that far, he did something that needs to be done every once in a while: he didn't participate in ritual celebrity ass kissing. These actors get paid millions of dollars to do an art they love. Of all people, I can appreciate that and think they deserve every penny. But with this money and fame comes an ongoing fascination and ass kissing from the movie industry, fans, and press. Celebrities have become sacred cows who cannot handle someone saying no to them or standing up to them. So you know what? One night of bubble bursting isn't such a bad thing. Most of us get made fun of for free and there are still plenty days left in the year for these people to be worshipped. All hail, Gervais.

News Spotlight: Sacrifice of the Twitter Celebrity

In self-absorbed, obnoxious celebrity news: some of your favorite online celebrities will be taking part in a staged online massacre. To bring them back to life, you get to donate money to save children. Yes, that's right. Alicia Keys came up with the brilliant idea to get several famous folks to stop using Twitter and Facebook until a certain amount of money is raised to her Keep a Child Alive charity.

There is no doubt this was done with good intentions, but when you think about it, doesn't it seem like blackmail and a platform for these celebrities to feed into their egos just a bit more? But in the grand scheme of things, the fact it's for charity makes the fiasco okay. If people are going to be obsessed with Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga, I guess it's not so bad if $10 is the price for being a borederline stalker.

From MTV News: "If you see headlines this Wednesday about Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian giving up on social media, don't be alarmed. Along with Usher, Elijah Wood, Justin Timberlake, Khloe Kardashian and Jennifer Hudson, they're participating in a stunt to promote World AIDS Day in which they will kill off their cyberselves for one day as part of a Digital Life Sacrifice.

The idea was hatched by singer Alicia Keys to raise money for her charity, Keep a Child Alive, and as part of the Buy Life promotion the celebrities will urge fans to donate to the charity in order to buy back their online presence. Fans can text the first name of the celebrity they are mourning to 90999 and $10 will instantly be donated to the cause.

Kardashian is among the participants who have posed for a poster to bring attention to the effort. In it, she lies in a casket while wearing a cocktail dress and clutching her cell phone. Celebrities such as mega-tweeter Ryan Seacrest have agreed to sign off all social networks on Tuesday until they raise $1 million for World AIDS Day. Seacrest has even videotaped a "Last Tweet and Testament" representing his digital death for his Facebook page that will be linked to from his final tweet early Tuesday morning.

In another taped plea, Jennifer Hudson says, "Come on, y'all. Buy my life back. Go on a shopping spree and buy as much of it as you can." Keep a Child Alive helps provide money for medical care and support services for children and families impacted by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India.

Janelle MonĂ¡e and Keys' husband, producer Swizz Beatz, have also filmed "Last Tweet and Testament" clips and been photographed in coffins.

"It's so important to shock you to the point of waking up," Keys told The Associated Press. "It's not that people don't care or it's not that people don't want to do something, it's that they never thought of it quite like that. ... This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention."

News Spotlight: Scarlett Johansson Gets a Title

This really doesn't count as news. The fact Scarlett Johansson is hot is a wide known fact and has been so for years. But apparently, GQ naming her "Babe of the Year" makes it news so who are we to disagree?

From the NY Daily News: "Despite increasing obsession with the Megans and Livelys of Hollywood, GQ magazine says Scarlett Johansson is responsible for its "somewhat unhealthy" fascination with her.

Seductively posing on GQ's December cover, Johansson earns the title Babe of the Year in the magazine's 15th annual Men of the Year issue."

At 26, she remains fresh-faced, curious, trying on new moods and outlets of expression as easily as she changes her hair color," the men's mag says of the actress. "This is what we love about Scarlett: that she's game, that she's good, that she can try on all these guises without seeming to try too hard. And all the while still seem genuinely like the observant, inquisitive (and very cute) girl in transition we fell for in 'Lost in Translation.'""

"Sexpot of the Week" : Emma Watson

When it comes to child stars, it's easy to keep the image of their youthfulness ingrained in the mind forever. But everyone has to grow up. Emma Watson got cast in the first Harry Potter movie when she was 9 years old and although it may not seem that long ago, she is now 20.

Last night in London, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One" premiered and she is rocking a new haircut (first picture) and there is no doubt that she is a woman. She has made millions from her Harry Potter franchise and it has been revealed that she will be creating her own clothing line soon. She's may not qualify as full blown sexpot yet, but she is certainly a sexpot in training. She's got the goods and in a few more years, she will most likely have the status.

News Spotlight: Kanye West Rants Once Again

After getting very pissed at Matt Lauer for flashing old footage of his George Bush and Taylor Swift fiascos, Kanye West is apparently swearing off the media. He has been ranting on Twitter and cancelled his upcoming Today Show appearance. This guy may be the douchebag of the century, but damn he's entertaining.

From MTV: "On Thursday morning, the "Today" show aired its much-discussed interview with Kanye West, which concluded with host Matt Lauer announcing that West would return to the show on November 26 for "a special live concert on the plaza."

And though, earlier in the week, West seemed to be announcing he'd take a break from Twitter when he wrote, "Gonna sit these next few plays out," Lauer's announcement apparently forced him to strap the pads back on. Early Friday morning (November 12), 'Ye took to his Twitter account once again (from Dubai) to continue his screed against the show.

"I'm not performing on the 'Today' show for obvious reasons," West wrote. "I'm so happy the world got to see a small piece of 'the set up.' I blatantly said I'm not performing [on the show] on a tweet ... and the next day they still announced a performance.

"Do you guys see what I'm saying now?" he continued. "This is just a small slice of the day-to-day bullsh-- that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that I['m] such an a--hole. Cause when I don't perform 'Oh Nooow I'm the one that's crazy or a jerk.' "

The tweet West was referring to was a message he posted on Tuesday, in which he wrote, "I don't mess with Matt Lauer or the 'Today' show ... and that's a very nice way for me to put it." Whether or not that constitutes him "blatantly" announcing he would not perform on the show is a matter that could be debated endlessly, but West wasn't about to allow semantics to slow him down, as he continued dissecting his "Today" interview in a series of messages.

"I want you guys to look at that footage and start to put everything together now. It's very simple to call someone angry or spoiled or the one thousand names I've been called, but it's harder to try to take a look at what's really behind the curtain," he wrote. "I'm so happy that my real fans are not as 'basic' as the media makes them out to be. Did you see them try to justify playing the audio [of West's infamous VMA run-in with Taylor Swift] under my interview? Yo, sometimes you're just wrong and it ain't nothing you can say to justify it. Believe me, I know!"
West then shifted tones, writing, "I'm not complaining. I'm tweeting because I'm so happy you guys got to see this sh-- really go down." And he made it clear that he's already moved on from the incident, extending an olive branch to Lauer and the entire "Today" show staff. Sort of.

"I don't hate Matt Lauer ... we don't promote hate. That's the whole point. I promote love and truth," he wrote. "You know what? We off that! They made a mistake. They thought they could pull it but they couldn't. That was just a small representation of a bigger media play that's been going on since the beginning of time. All positive energy ... all smiles. Much love to Matt and the whole 'Today' show. I accept ya'll future apology in advance."

News Spotlight: Reggie Bush's Pussywhipped Moment

If you watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians last night, you witnessed Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian's back and forth love spat over his jealousy of her new (well recently defunct) relationship with Miles Davis. The above clip was just the start. Other scenes include him admitting her relationship with Miles was driving him crazy and him sending angry text messages. Kim is getting some flack about calling him out, but I bet he learned his lesson to never air dirty laundry with a girl with her own reality tv show.

News Spotlight: Mel Fired

Hollywood's least favorite raging lunatic has been outed from his "comeback" cameo for "The Hangover II." It looks like the Mel backlash is gonna take a long while to simmer down. He should just count his blessings that he will never go for broke living off his "Passion of the Christ" fortune.

From the New York Post: "Mel Gibson has been booted out of his career comeback role in "The Hangover Part II" following a revolt by stars of the movie who refused to work with him.
Sources say the cast, which includes Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha, were "outraged" after Page Six first reported on Monday that Gibson had been tapped to play a Bangkok tattoo artist in the eagerly anticipated sequel.

Director Todd Phillips last night confirmed in a statement that Gibson, who was due to start filming in two weeks, had just been dropped from the Warner Bros. movie.

Phillips said: "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie, and I had the full backing of [Warner Bros president] Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."

His decision to drop troubled Gibson came after Galifianakis told Comedy Death Ray Radio this week that he was not happy with "something" on the set of his current movie.

Without naming Gibson, he said: "I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something . . . But I can't get the guys to [listen] . . . I'm not making any leeway."

But sources told us, "It was not only Zack who complained, it was the other members of the ensemble cast and many of the crew, who were outraged that Mel would be part of their comedy considering his current problems. They felt he would damage the movie. Mel's tattoo artist character will now be played by another actor."

Gibson is currently embroiled in a huge legal battle with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who alleges he assaulted and made threats against her.

A rep for Gibson couldn't be reached for comment."
